The purpose of this site is to examine the origins – both in time and place – of the surname DEXTER, and to place the name in a contemporary perspective. We will not explore the usage of DEXTER as a first or given name, except to state that it is derived from the surname.
This site has its origins in our own research into our own DEXTER family genealogy. We subsequently expanded our research into all people with the surname DEXTER. Our study is registered with the Guild of One-Name Studies in London. Much of our research can be found on the “DEXTER Genealogy” pages which are part of this site.
